Brandon Johnson, hometown art hero, hosted his first Hoodlins Segra Takeover event and BAF was in the building. First, let's talk about Brandon Johnson and Bigfooters the brand where he leads a team of artists creating next level, punny, and street art focused art. Locals to Fayetteville might remember his solo show Hoodlinville at the Arts Council where he displayed large scale wood pieces, puppets, hand painted canvases, and prints of digital art that felt like a comic book explosion. Take a look at the history of the Hoodlins here:
While Brandon is currently out of LA, he has made a point to bring resources back to our community, and he started that at Segra by inviting artists to show their works at tables alongside his own. He's also currently in talks to have a permanent mural installed at Segra and we will definitely share any RFQ (Request for Qualifications) that come through from this project so you get access to the opportunity.
Shakeyla Ingram our Vice President was in the building handing out information and talking with artists while having a blast. "It was an amazing experience - " She said, "I'm really excited about everything he's doing for our community, and I'm happy we are a part of it"
In amazing news, Brandon pledged all proceeds from the event to Black Artist Forward. Already he has raised over $3,000 which BAF intends to use to give back to the artists and make much needed improvements so we can better serve our community. We'll keep you in the loop of course. On to the next one!
