A Celebration of Black Art, Culture, and Creative Legacy
Notes of Ebony is a curated Black art exhibition presented by Black Artist Forward that highlights the depth, beauty, and diversity of Black creative expression across North Carolina. Through visual art, storytelling, and cultural exploration, the exhibit creates space for artists to share work rooted in identity, memory, heritage, joy, and lived experience.
Bringing together emerging and established Black artists, Notes of Ebony transforms exhibition space into a living archive of creativity and connection. Each piece contributes to a larger conversation about culture, community, and the evolving language of Black art.
About the Exhibit
Originally created as a community-centered exhibition experience, Notes of Ebony was designed to increase visibility for Black artists while creating accessible opportunities for audiences to engage with Black art in meaningful ways. The exhibit features a range of artistic styles and mediums, including painting, illustration, photography, mixed media, fiber art, sculpture, and experimental work.
The exhibition encourages visitors to slow down, reflect, and experience the emotional and cultural narratives woven throughout the collection. Rather than presenting Black art as a single perspective, Notes of Ebony embraces complexity, individuality, and collective storytelling.
