Black Artist Forward, in partnership with Black Canvas, is proud to present "Notes of Ebony", a celebration of Black creativity, culture, and storytelling through visual and literary arts. This inspiring exhibit will run from June 19 to September 2025 at the Dirty Whiskey Craft Cocktail Bar, located at 5431 Corporation Dr, Hope Mills, NC 28348.

About the Exhibit

"Notes of Ebony" is a curated collection featuring 20 stunning canvas-printed artworks (24x24”) and a selection of poetry and prose. This exhibition honors the many "notes"—ancestral, emotional, cultural, and creative—that shape and inspire Black lives. Through this unique blend of visual and literary arts, the exhibit amplifies the voices and stories of Black artists and writers, creating a space for connection, reflection, and empowerment.

Call for Artists & Writers

We are currently accepting submissions from Black artists and writers aged 18 and older. Whether you’re an emerging creator or an established professional, we welcome all mediums and experience levels. Here’s how to get involved:

Visual Artists: Submit up to 3 high-resolution images (300 dpi) for consideration. Final pieces will be printed on canvas wraps to ensure the protection of original works.

Writers: Submit up to 2 short-form literary works (poetry or prose, 60 words or less) to be featured alongside the visual art.

Submission Deadline: June 2, 2025

Additional Opportunities

Accepted artists will have the option to sell prints of their work through Black Artist Forward’s website, with 80% of proceeds going directly to the artist and 20% supporting the Thrive Fund, an emergency microgrant for artists in Cumberland County. The exhibit is also intended to travel to additional venues, providing even more exposure for participating artists.

Mark your calendars and join us for this incredible celebration of Black artistry and expression. Admission is free, and the exhibit promises to be a transformative experience for all who attend.
