Welcome to Level Four, the Advisory Committee Member level of our Leadership Track.
You've made it here by showing up, putting in the work, learning how BAF operates, and demonstrating that you're ready to take on greater responsibility.
As an Advisory Committee Member, you help shape the future of Black Artist Forward. You work alongside our board and leadership to provide insight, review ideas, identify opportunities, and help us think beyond what we're doing today.
This is the highest level of our Leadership Track and the pathway to becoming board eligible.
The Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee brings together experienced BAF leaders who have demonstrated a strong understanding of our mission, programs, community, and organizational culture.
Advisory Committee Members may:

Present ideas and recommendations to the board

Provide feedback on proposed programs and initiatives

Help identify opportunities, partnerships, and community needs

Participate in strategic conversations

Support committees and emerging leaders

Take on special projects and organizational initiatives

Attend designated board meetings and Advisory Committee sessions
Advisory Committee Members may also be invited to participate in confidential discussions and will be required to follow BAF's confidentiality and organizational policies.
Getting Started
Once you're ready to Level Up, check your membership level.
Our Advisory Committee Members demonstrate a deeper investment in BAF through one of the following:

Maintaining a $25+ monthly BAF membership

Securing an approved donation or sponsorship

Demonstrating an equivalent contribution approved by BAF

Receiving Access Support if a financial contribution is not currently accessible to you
Accessibility matters to us. If you're ready to take on this level of leadership but aren't able to make a financial contribution, you can submit our Access Support form to explore an alternative pathway.
Board Eligibility
Reaching Level Four does not automatically make you a board member.
It means you've demonstrated the experience, commitment, leadership, and understanding of BAF necessary to be considered for board service.
When a board seat becomes available, eligible Advisory Committee Members may be nominated and considered through BAF's board selection and voting process.
Board service carries additional governance, fiduciary, and organizational responsibilities beyond participation in the Leadership Track.
You've earned the opportunity to be considered. What happens next is a decision made through BAF's governance process.
Your Leadership Journey
The Leadership Track may end here, but your leadership doesn't.
Whether you eventually serve on the board, lead a committee, teach an artist workshop, manage volunteers, or help build the next BAF program, you've developed the knowledge and experience to help carry the work forward.
You don't reach Level Four because you want a seat at the table. You reach it because you've demonstrated that you're ready to help steward what happens there.
